Gramitherm Insulation
Gramitherm® insulation panels offer several benefits in terms of flexibility, compressibility, ease of installation, and handling. They can be easily placed between rafters, and their flexible nature allows for convenient adjustments during installation. Unlike traditional insulation materials, Gramitherm® does not cause itching or skin irritation, making it a pleasant option to work with.
One of the key features of Gramitherm® is its bio-based composition. It is made from recycled grass and jute fibers, making it an environmentally friendly choice. The production process of Gramitherm® takes place in a location that promotes proximity to the raw materials and the actors involved in bio-based construction, further emphasizing its sustainability.
The production process of Gramitherm® involves an exclusive and patented three-stage cycle. Firstly, "lost" grass is cut and harvested, with a yield of 200 m³ of insulation product per hectare of grass. Secondly, cellulose fibers are extracted from the grass, separating them from other components. Finally, the cellulose fibers are used to manufacture flexible insulation panels using AIR-LAY technology and thermoforming techniques.
Gramitherm® insulation panels are designed to offer protection against fire, fungi, and pests. This ensures that the insulation material provides a safe and durable solution for building insulation.
Overall, Gramitherm® combines innovative production methods, eco-friendly materials, and reliable performance to provide a sustainable and effective insulation solution.
Sustainable Insulation Solutions: Gramitherm® - Harnessing Nature's Power for Eco-Friendly Comfort
Gramitherm® has a positive impact on the environment:
-
Gramitherm® has a positive impact on the environment:
-
Comparison with other common insulation materials highlights the indisputable environmental benefits of Gramitherm®.
-
Gramitherm® has a negative carbon footprint (therefore favorable) since the CO2 emitted during the different phases of production and life of the product is lower than the CO2 captured by the grass during its growth!
-
The energy used in the production of Gramitherm® is 20% lower than that consumed by insulation products such as extruded polystyrene.
-
The environmental impacts associated with the production of Gramitherm® include the cultivation of grass, the addition of fire retardant products, the fibers used as a binder as well as the heat of cooking of the product. The choice of the fire retardant was determined for its harmless nature in terms of health. In addition, the environmental impact analysis does not take into account the valorization of the lost grass and the non-cultivation of this grass.
DID YOU KNOW?
-
The grass grows naturally without the need for expensive ploughing and processing.
-
In Gramitherm's® production process, digestible materials are separated from the fibres to be recovered separately.
-
1 ha of grass = 200 m3 of Gramitherm®, i.e. the insulation of 7 family houses that correspond to the capture of 3.6T of CO2 (i.e. a return trip Brussels – Cape Town by plane)
-
Gramitherm's® production is not in competition with food production.
-
Gramitherm® contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gases. It contains atmospheric CO2 absorbed by the grass during its growth (photosynthesis).
-
The scraps from the production as well as the waste produced are fully recyclable.
